Animal

It's hard not to surrender yourself to the gentle, tender voice of Richard Walters; It feels almost like a cathartic experience, like letting off emotional steam.

With obvious comparisons in sound to bands like Anthony and the Johnsons or Guillemots, Richard Walters creates songs that sound like delicate pieces of art, that could seemingly crumble if not treated gently. Stepping tentatively into highnotes that pull on the heart strings, his vocals feel raw and unclothed, like someone reaching into you and touching your emotions with their bare hands.

To some people, music like this can feel uncomfortably intense. To most however, the overall atmosphere of this album will feel like something really special, with an uncomplicated acoustic feel that runs throughout all the songs, that allows for Richard Walters enchanting vocals to shine.

It seems odd for this album's title to be 'Animal'; the music feels too gentle and delicate to have a title that evokes primal imagery. However it is more likely a reflection of the true emotional rawness that his music shows for all to see.
