The Road

The new single from Frank Turner 'The Road' is accompanied by a video of his attempt to play 24 shows in 24 hours. When I visited You Tube to watch this during my 'research' there were a whole heap of comments from Frank Turner fans and (inevitably) a few detractors. What pulled me up short was this comment "It makes me want to just throw everything away and go travelling around the world." 

It's true. Whatever you think of Frank's self-promotion and wandering, folk/punk minstrel persona, there is a contagious atmosphere contained within this track. It speaks simply of searching for freedom from constraint and genuinely conveys his own drive to keep moving (literally and metaphorically) towards this goal.

Despite intellectual arguments to the contrary sometimes you can't argue with the crowd and this track is the sound of 24 hours of smiling upturned faces, all of whom have found three and a half minutes of freedom.
