Ladyflash

So many artists who rely on samples produce obscure and inaccessible collages; yet The Go! Team seamlessly construct rich melodies that exude pure, unadulterated joy. On ‘Ladyflash' the fuzzy warmth of Mario Cart is infused with cheer leader vocals and rainbow strings while the skittery Keith Moon drum fills second guess all expectations of an electric break beat. This EP's re-release features Kevin Shields and RJ D2 mixes of ‘Huddle Formation', but most notably it offers a Simian Mobile Disco mix of ‘Ladyflash' - six minutes of frenetic grinding bass and burbling keyboards. These B-sides reflect hip-hop and dance world authority interest in The Go! Team's abilities in the wake of so many disastrous attempts at cross-pollination. Eclectic doesn't even start to describe The Go! Team's methods of madness, but to even try, is to do them an injustice.
