Welcome to the second issue of Transition Tradition Magazine!
Transition Tradition is a new online Magazine and Portal, which supports creative students and graduates making the transition into their working lives. We highlight creative career options for those studying 'multi-vocational' subjects, such as English, Classics, Fine Art, Sociology and History and support all graduates with creative industry aspirations.
For many of us the freedom to choose our career disappears during the transition between university and employment. At university we're busy, protective of the quickly passing time and uninspired by traditional graduate careers. After university, we need to earn money and want to start this new part of life quickly and successfully. We never take ownership of this notional freedom of choice about what we do next.
Designed and illustrated by emerging visual and graphic artists Transition Tradition Magazine features intelligent editorial content - from articles about personal experiences of transition to interviews and opinion pieces from academics, authors and artists. Each issue showcases the talents and skills of its creative student and graduate audience.
So many of us are temporarily isolated after university as we return to our hometowns or move to new cities in search of work. We struggle with employment, underemployment and unemployment but no one reassures us that our individual experiences of transition are part of a shared tradition. The site presents the experiences, talents and knowledge of the graduate diaspora and reminds us we are part of the transition tradition.
So, what can we offer you in this issue of Transition Tradition Magazine?
