At university we're busy, protective of the quickly passing time and uninspired by typical graduate careers. After university, we need to earn money and want to start this new part of life quickly and successfully. We never take ownership of this notional freedom of choice about what we do next.

So many of us are temporarily isolated after university as we return to our home towns or move to new cities in search of work. We struggle with employment, underemployment and unemployment but no-one reassures us our individual experiences of transition are part of a shared tradition.
